Microsoft showing off the sweet new features to look forward to in Windows 8, such as the Metro apps screen, new picture login screen, and the Charms bar. Presentation given by Mike Bishop at the University of Texas at Arlington. Also demonstrated is the new Task Manager, with simple and advanced views. You can't quite tell in the video, but the amount of memory a program uses depicts how brightly colored it is. "Heat mapping" he calls it, to quickly find resource hogging programs. Another large improvement they talk about is their smart wireless network & data management. If you have limited megabytes per month, then Windows 8 will only download crucial updates and stop all unnecessary bandwidth usage. Improved shutdown and startup screens, very smooth transition from bios with no problems. Unfortunately the camera decided the video ends abruptly at 23:07, you didn't miss much though. They do say you can go to microsoft.com and download the beta of Windows 8 to try, for free.
