The Australian Tax Office has released draft Tax Ruling 2011/3 which provides information on the ATO's view on when a pension starts and when a pension stops. Although this may sound simple this video discusses the content of this ruling which provides confirmation of the requirements to meet minimum pension standards and some interesting insights into dealing with pension monies on the death of a member in a SMSF. This video also includes an update on Defined Benefit Pensions in relation to the permanent debt relief which is now in place for Fund's which commute their defined benefit pension.
