A fire started underground at the Fosterville Gold Mine just after 3pm. Radio station 3AW have reported that 11 men in "Rescue Chambers" 450 metres underground, and 2 men who suffered smoke inhalation are now safe. Mine Rescue Team Oscar 1 and numerous CFA units attended the blaze, but it is believed Fosterville Mine emergency services controlled the fire, before having it declared safe by CFA Rescue crews.
