It's time for another Samsung Android dogfight battle! Aaron throws the gigantic Samsung Galaxy Note into the ring against AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. Both offer some killer specs, but the form factors will appeal to different people. Which one of the two Galaxy devices will be crowned champion? Part 1 of 2. My initial impression of the Galaxy Note when it was announced was that it was laughably big. The phone/tablet hybrid was introduced as big smartphone displays were becoming the norm. But having gotten used to devices in the 4-inch range, I just couldn't fathom using the Note's oversized 5.3-inch screen as my daily driver. How I was wrong. After nearly a month of use, every other smartphone experience literally pales in comparison. Even the HTC Titan, which I've sung the praises of before, takes some getting used to because the screen is so much smaller. Browsing, messaging, watching video and using apps is that much better on the Galaxy Note because there's so much screen real estate. And my biggest apprehension, the portability, is an absolute non-factor. It's easy to use, talk on and isn't an issue in my pocket. Our flagship Smart TV for 2012 -- a CES Innovation Award honoree -- is the Samsung ES8000 LED TV. From the outside you can see the TV is beautiful, but once you look inside you'll see that this Smart TV is more than just a pretty face. For starters, you won't find a more powerful Smart TV than the ES8000. A dual-core processor creates a better, faster Smart TV experience and allows for something really cool: multi-tasking. Let's say you're watching a movie on Netflix and you want to check the hockey highlights. Just toggle from Netflix to one of my favorite apps -- NHL Game Center -- and come right back to the movie ...without having to quit and re-launch apps. We also have created a new Smart Hub -- one screen for your apps, content and search -- with a cleaner, more intuitive UI, now in Full HD. That clean design extends to the TV's body as well. The ES8000 features the slim bezel we first introduced in 2011 and is complemented this year by a new matching U-shaped stand. Our Smart TVs have grown physically as well, as large as 75 inches. Take a closer look at the top of the TV. You'll see that for the first time, Samsung is offering an integrated camera in our high-end Smart TVs. This will enable not only video conferencing but also the Smart Interaction capabilities you'll see shortly. For the moment, let's stay in the Content room and look at how this continues to evolve. As the leader in 4G-enabled devices, Samsung is very proud to unveil the LTE version of the GALAXY Note with AT&T. This is just the beginning of a new 4G-enabled product portfolio we're delivering to the US market in 2012. Samsung conducted extensive research to find the preferred screen size for consumers wanting the perfect blend of smartphone portability and advanced notebook and tablet functionality. As a result, the Galaxy Note features a 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, the largest high-definition smart phone screen in the world. But the Galaxy Note doesn't stop pushing boundaries there. To adapt an old turn of phrase -- the pen is mightier than the screen. The first thing to know about the S Pen is that it is not a stylus. Rather, it is a precise instrument designed with 256 levels of pressure sensitivity, delivering fast, responsive and highly accurate control. Depending on how hard or soft you push the S-Pen to the screen; you can create the thin lines of a handwritten note or the tapered lines and brush strokes of an oil painter. It truly is the first device that captures the tactile artistry of pen and paper. Users can quickly write down information and save it to the S Memo virtual notepad or share and save screen images using screen capture. The S Pen and Galaxy Note embrace the best of convergence. Notes and screen captures can be immediately shared via text, email, AllShare or social networks. On top of this, the S Planner integrates to do lists and ...

With Smart Interaction, Samsung is literally changing how you can interact with the TV. You will be able to 'listen, see and do' what you want, without ever touching a remote control. The TV will be even more intuitive to your needs. You will be able to interact with your Samsung Smart TVs just like we interact with people, using voice, gestures and face. Take a look. The face recognition seamlessly logs in each family member to their own Smart Hub profile. You will see your apps. Your family members will see theirs. That's just a taste of what is possible with our Smart Interaction technology. What's more, we will open our APIs to developers so they can unleash their creativity and build apps that use motion control, voice control and face recognition. Samsung's Super OLED technology distinguishes itself by eliminating the need for a color filter. Each OLED pixel consists of its own RGB sub-pixels and emits its own light. Details are visible even in the darkest of scenes. And the Super OLED's ultra-fast motion response time virtually eliminates blur to deliver clear images in the most action-packed moments. It's also amazingly thin and features an ultra-slim bezel. The image almost appears to float in the air. We didn't stop with amazing design and astounding picture quality. This TV includes all the features I mentioned earlier - built-in camera and microphone for motion control, voice control and face recognition, a blazing fast dual-core processor so you can multitask... and naturally it's a 3D TV. Samsung led the transition from tube to flat, analog to digital and conventional to Smart TV. Now, we'll do it again with the Super OLED TV. It's the ultimate TV and a giant leap forward for the TV industry. Connect with Samsung USA: www.facebook.com www.twitter.com gplus.to

When the Galaxy Note was introduced last September, it was difficult to imagine ever using such a large phone. With a 5.3″ display, the device doesn't exactly fly under the radar, especially out in public. Out of all the phones I've tested, the Note easily attracted the most attention and, after folks saw it in action, continually received praise. People were often curious about who made it, and whether or not the device's sheer size dampened the experience. My answers? Samsung, and not at all. The Note fits in a niche between big phones and small tablets, carving out a new category all its own. Having used the HTC Titan as my daily driver, I thought I had reached my ideal screen size at 4.7″. Now that I've developed a taste for the Note's 5.3″ display, I'm hooked. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. Widgets, pictures, and videos pop, and because the display is so physically large and high-res, there's plenty of real estate for a lot of content. I found myself preferring the Note for tasks I would have normally used a tablet for (eg browsing the web, checking fantasy scores, looking at photos).
