"The Man From Snowy River" fullscreen vs widescreen dvd versions I was watching two different versions of this movie. I could see that they looked very different on my screen, so I went back to compare them directly. I put the "fullscreen" DVD version in the smaller box at the top. So yes, I made it smaller, but it still shows the entire "fullscreen" picture, exactly preserved. The bigger picture is the "widescreen" DVD version of the movie. It seems to closely match the original theater version. Notice how completely lame the fullscreen version is! When the guy on our right makes a little joke about the cooking, you can see both guys at the same time, reacting to the joke. In the fullscreen version, it cuts back-and-forth, showing us only one guy at a time, basically eliminating half of the original imagery of the scene. ...it's not a book, it's a movie, so it's really not cool to cut out half of the pictures. This movie has some particularly stunning and beautiful photography throughout, so the lame fullscreen version is totally unacceptable, in my opinion. What do you think? Actor ... Banjo Paterson "The Man from Ironbark" Poem animation Heres a vitual movie of the celebrated Australian Bush poet Banko Paterson reading his much loved poem "The Man from Ironbark". "The Man From Ironbark" is a famous poem by Australian bush poet Banjo Paterson. It was first published in The Bulletin on 17 December 1892. The poem relates the experiences of a naïve man from the Bush, who reacts badly to a practical joke sprung on him by a mischievous barber in Sydney. While making his displeasure known, "A peeler man who heard the din came in to see the show; He tried to run the bushman in, but he refused to go." The barber confesses that he was playing a joke, and the bushman, unconvinced, returns to Ironbark, where, due to his accounts of his Sydney experiences, "flowing beards are all the go". There are obvious echoes in the poem of the urban legend of the murdering barber - fictionalised in the penny dreadful The String of Pearls which featured the notorious Sweeney Todd. It's cold out today so I thought it only fitting to do another snow color study. This one is a moment captured right after the snow stopped falling. The sky is still overcast with storm clouds, so there are no bursts of bright colors, and no warm colors at all. Compare this to the last color study and you will see the difference. This study feels creepy. That's the word that comes to mind when I look at it. I created this using the Artrage app on the iPad2 with a Cosmonaut stylus.
