The interview was shot in May 2011 at the United Nations. BACKGROUND: Twenty original documents and artifacts from The Freeman Institute Black History Collection were showcased at the United Nations Transatlantic Slave Trade exhibition (March - May 2011). After years of research, Dr. Joel A. Freeman has cobbled together a rather remarkable Black History collection of well over 3000 genuine documents and artifacts. The oldest piece is dated 1553 -- www.freemaninstitute.com One of the items that was exhibited at the United Nations was a priceless 50 pound slave ball found off the coast of Florida at the site of the oldest documented slave ship wreck, the Henrietta Marie. The ship sank sometime between June and July of 1700. Another item was an authentic metal neck piece, designed to be welded permanently around the neck of a young female slave. It has metal balls and rings incorporated into the piece so that her movements could be detected at all times. Another piece on exhibition was the one-of-a-kind 1833 document hand written by Lord Aberdeen, who at that time was the British Foreign Consul in Trieste, Italy. It announced what would happen to any British subject who was still involved in the Slave Trade. Aberdeen later became the Prime Minister of Great Britain. Also included were two signed 1858 slave insurance policies from La ...

TodaysNetworkNews Jul 23, 2009 www.youtube.com www.TodaysNetworkNews.com TodaysNetworkNews 23 July 2009 - United Nations - UNTV: At a General Assembly debate on the 'responsibility to protect' (R2P), US political activist Noam Chomsky argues that it is linked to humanitarian intervention which he says has been abused throughout history, while former Australian foreign minister Gareth Evans urges UN member states not to reopen negotiations on a principle adopted in 2005 to help solve the world's "most ugly" problems. The principle of responsibility to protect, the international understanding to intervene to stop atrocities from taking place, could pose a threat to national sovereignty, General Assembly President Miguel DEscoto warned today (23 July). Agreed to by world leaders in 2005, responsibility to protect sometimes known as R2P holds states responsible for shielding their own populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and related crimes against humanity, requiring the international community to step in if this obligation is not met. In a statement to the Assemblys thematic dialogue on the issue, DEscoto said that the legacy of colonialism gave developing countries strong reasons to fear that laudable motives can end up being misused, once more, to justify arbitrary and selective interventions against the weakest states. A panel discussion among experts was part of the General Assembly thematic debate. Panelist Noam Chomsky argued that the responsibility ...

Russia and China have vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on Syria calling for Syrian President Bashar al Assad to resign and hand over power to opposition leaders. Press TV has conducted an interview with Ralph Schoenman, author and political commentator, to share his opinion on this issue. Press TV: Tell us about the significance of what is taking place in Russia and Chinese veto on this UN draft resolution on Syria? Schoenman: Well it is very important that those vetoes have taken place for the simple reason that what is at work here is an attempt to hijack the United Nations as it has been so many times and deploy as a cover for naked intervention on the part of the CIA and the Mossad and of the imperial forces of capitalist west. The question here is not that there is a mass movement in Syria. It is not a question of there being wide spread opposition to the government of Basher al-Assad. The issue is that the armed intervention on the part of what is called the Free Syrian Army has been well documented as an operation of both the Qatari and Arab League front spokespeople for United States and NATO and Israel.

The United Nations Wants To Crash The World Economy In Order To Save The Environment The United Nations says that the earth is in great danger and that the way you and I are living is the problem. In a shocking new report entitled, "Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing" the UN declares that the entire way that we currently approach economics needs to be changed. Instead of focusing on things like "economic growth", the UN is encouraging nations all over the world to start basing measurements of economic success on the goal of achieving "sustainable development". But there is a huge problem with that. The UN says that what we are doing right now is "unsustainable" by definition, and the major industrialized nations of the western world are the biggest culprits. According to the UN, since we are the ones that create the most carbon emissions and the most pollution, we are the ones that should make the biggest sacrifices. In addition, since we have the most money, we should also be willing to finance the transition of the developing world to a "sustainable development" economy as well. As you will see detailed in the rest of this article, the United Nations basically wants to crash the world economy in order to save the environment. Considering the fact that the US and Europe are in the midst of a horrible economic crisis and are already drowning in debt, this is something that we simply cannot afford. There is certainly nothing wrong with taking care ...

Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said an embargo on arms supplies to Syria is out of the question -- along with any resolution that could threaten to aggravate conflict in the country. Churkin, speaking to journalists via video link, spoke out strongly against a possible arms embargo on Syria, citing some countries' refusal to condemn the armed groups operating there, and the continued risk of weapons supplies reaching these groups despite any ban. When most nations talk about sovereignty, they seem to think that "sovereignty is good for friends" while "compliance is good for enemies," believes Benjamin Barber, a senior fellow at the American think-tank Demos.
