Those four video spots illustrate the activities of the Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD) which operates through two components: Job Creation and Community Development. The Job Creation component has helped Oussama (the farmer) and Shadia (owner of beauty center) to get loans and improve their small and medium sized businesses, creating new jobs and improving their income. The Community Development component has financed the planning and execution of 64local development projects in 70 vulnerable villages in Lebanon. Enhancing the Tripoli Mina for Fishermen and setting up the handcrafts workshop for women in Kweishra (Akkar) constitute two sample projects undertaken by the ESFD. The Economic and Social Fund for Development (ESFD) is a permanent poverty alleviation entity funded by the European Union and supported by the Government of Lebanon.
