They needed to learn about Elastic Potential Energy, Mechanical, Kinetic and Gravitational Potential Energy, Work and Power applied to their designs. During the testing, 8th graders recorder the parabolic throws and measure time, distance and height, to calculate the Mechanical Energy, Work & Power applied to Water Balloons or Water Bottles as well as the Elastic Constant of their inventions, leading them to a comparison with other projects and a final conclusion. Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a hollow fabric wing whose shape is formed by its suspension lines, the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing and the aerodynamic forces of the air flowing over the outside. Despite not using an engine, paraglider flights can last many hours and cover many hundreds of kilometres, though flights of 1--2 hours and covering some tens of kilometres are more the norm. By skilful exploitation of sources of lift the pilot may gain height, often climbing to a few thousand metres over the surrounding countryside. Paragliders are unique among soaring aircraft in being easily portable. The complete equipment packs into a rucksack and can be carried easily on the pilot's back, in a car, or on public transport. In comparison with other air sports this substantially simplifies travel to a suitable take off spot, the selection of a landing place and return travel. Paragliding is related to the following activities: Hang gliding is a close cousin, and hang glider and paraglider launches are often found in proximity. Despite the considerable difference in equipment the two activities offer similar pleasures and some pilots are involved in both sports. Powered paragliding is the flying of paragliders with a small engine attached. Speed riding or speed ...

[en.wikipedia.org] Sabah, Malaysian Borneo is definitely gaining its popularity amongst national and international paragliding enthusiasts because of its mountainous region. Two of the most recent spots for paragliding in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo are Lohan (Ranau) -- located only about 2 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu and Kokol (Menggatal) -- a mere 1 hour drive from Kota Kinabalu. If you haven't decided to whether or not paragliding is for you, a tandem flight is a great way to experience free flying first-hand. The tandem paraglide is designed for flying with up to 200 Kg of load. Tandem flying involves a pilot flying with a passenger. Both have separate harnesses that are attached to each other and the wing. The instructor will fly the paraglide from behind you, giving you a totally panoramic view without obstruction ...

They look the same but act very differently. The normal jetpack (1727) is what was given out today, and is what most players have. The property jetpack (7292) was given to me yesterday by Zipblock, a LUP. Instead of falling when you lift up on the space bar, the property jetpack hovers, and will continue to fly and hover at that height until you either press space again to fall down, or double press space and hold to fly up more. When hovering, it has very tight control (it reacts instantly and can turn on a dime), while the normal jetpack slides around like a car out of LEGO Racers 2. However, it is a bit slower then the normal jetpack. So the normal jetpack is best for zipping around worlds quickly, while the property jetpack is best for smaller precise movements. As of right now there's only a couple of people in the entire game with property jetpacks, though it wouldn't surprise me if they're going to be given out in the future.

The recently published crystal structure of the Cx26 gap junction channel provides a unique opportunity for elucidation of the structure of the conductive connexin pore and the molecular determinants of its ion permeation properties (conductance, current-voltage [IV] relations, and charge selectivity). However, the crystal structure was incomplete, most notably lacking the coordinates of the N-terminal methionine residue, which resides within the pore, and also lacking two cytosolic domains. To allow computational studies for comparison with the known channel properties, we completed the structure. Grand canonical Monte Carlo Brownian dynamics (GCMC/BD) simulations of the completed and the published Cx26 hemichannel crystal structure indicate that the pore is too narrow to permit significant ion flux. The GCMC/BD simulations predict marked inward current rectification and almost perfect anion selectivity, both inconsistent with known channel properties. The completed structure was refined by all-atom molecular dynamics (MD) simulations (220 ns total) in an explicit solvent and POPC membrane system. These MD simulations produced an equilibrated structure with a larger minimal pore diameter, which decreased the height of the permeation barrier formed by the N terminus. GCMC/BD simulations of the MD-equilibrated structure yielded more appropriate single-channel conductance and less anion/cation selectivity. However, the simulations much more closely matched experimentally ...
