A man who just finished several about 10 years for manslaughter is accused of commiting another violent crime.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE ARRESTS 5 FOR ARMED HOME INVASION Chatham, NY -- Sheriff David Harrison, Jr. reports that this morning at about 12:39am, Deputy Sheriff's were dispatched by County 911 to the report of a home invasion that occurred on County Route 17 in the Town of Chatham, NY. The homeowner and his wife were in bed sleeping, when they were awoken to noises indicating that someone may be in their house. Checking further, the homeowner reported that at least two individuals had entered their residence. When confronted by both homeowners, one male perpetrator displayed a handgun before exiting the residence. They immediately called 911 to report the home invasion. No one was injured during the incident. While responding on County Route 28 in Niverville, Sergeant Donald Krapf and Deputy Sheriff Kris Bauhoff stopped a vehicle with several individuals in it. Assisted by State Police and Chatham Police patrols, two illegal handguns were found, one being a loaded 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun and the second being a small caliber revolver that was not loaded. The subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle and its occupants had been involved in the County Route 17 home invasion. At this time, five individuals are charged with Conspiracy to Commit Burglary 1st Degree, a Class E Felony and the case will be presented to the Grand Jury on Tuesday January 17, 2012. Just after midnight, a man entered the 83-year-old's home and the elderly man mistook him for a family member. The robber played into it, telling the man he was hungry and waiting until the man turned his back to head to the kitchen before violently assaulting him and stealing his wallet.
