BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A small experimental plane piloted by the chief executive and chairman of Micron Technology Inc. crashed after take-off Friday at the Boise airport, killing the head of the Idaho memory chip maker who survived a similar crash eight years ago. Steve Appleton, a professional stunt pilot and former motor cross racer, was the only person aboard the plane when witnesses said it steeply banked, stalled and rolled to the ground, according to Zoe Keliher, air safety investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board. It was the aircraft's second take-off attempt for the morning. Appleton's death was confirmed by Micron spokesman Dan Fransicso, and trading in the company's stock was halted. The company's shares have traded between $3.97 and $11.95 over the past year, and shares were up 23 cents at $7.95 Friday before the announcement. "Steve's passion and energy left an indelible mark on Micron, the Idaho community and the technology industry at large," Micron's board of directors said in a prepared statement. Micron is one of many companies that make semiconductor chips for various devices, including computers, mobile devices, cameras, cars and industrial systems. It makes products under the Lexar and Crucial brands, and is one of Idaho's largest and most influential employers In its latest fiscal year, which end

Steven Appleton Micron CEO Dies in Plane Crash. www.businessresourceusa.com February 3rd 2012, Steven R. Appleton, CEO of the microchip maker Micron, died after his small, experimental Lancair plane crashed in Boise Idaho, he was the only passenger. He was 51. Tech Giant Micron Technology, Inc., is one of the world's leading providers of advanced semiconductor solutions. Appleton, shown here with President Barack Obama, was a former motocross racer, professional stunt plane pilot, and nationally ranked tennis player. Appleton started his career at Micron shortly after graduation in 1983 - working the night shift in production. He held a variety of positions in the company and worked his way up to the top. At age 34 he was the third youngest CEO in the Fortune 500. He was CEO and Chairman of the Board in 1994, til his death. The plane he died in was a Lancair plane. The Lancair is built from kits, and others like it have design characteristics that allow the planes to fly much faster than most small planes. In 2010, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a safety advisory to pilots because the planes are prone to stalling during slow-speed operations close to the ground. An FAA analysis found that the planes have experienced fatal accident rates substantially higher than other similar air craft. Appleton leaves behind his wife Dalynn and their children.

Part 1 of our little adventure in the Summer of 2011 on the old Honda's where we go in search of an old railroad town called Niddrie. The town seems to be mostly abandoned now except for a few buildings and camps. By the looks of things, it must be visited quite regularly though as everything seems to be well kept. The town was only accessible by railroad or float plane I suppose but you can now drive within a half mile or so and walk in. If anyone has any further info about Niddrie, please feel free to share it! In Part 2 of this video, we go further up the road to a plane crash site. This is the second time we have been there. We have enclosed links to our first visit where you could see more of the crashed plane. The plane that crashed is an Avenger that had been converted for firefighting duty. The Avenger crashed about 35 miles Northwest of Dryden Ontario in 1971 while fighting a forest fire. Fortunately the pilot was ok, but had quite a story to tell. You can read all about it in an article we found from The Ottawa Citizen at the following link: news.google.com Be sure to watch part 2 where we go to the actual crash site of the Avenger. Crash of my foam model plane when I should not have been flying it. The temperature was not the Primary issue, but it was a factor. Primarily, I should not have been flying this plane because I had not adequately marked the plane to help me to tell the difference between the top and the bottom of the plane. After the crash I was more confused than angry. I feel much better after seeing the video; i now have a more accurate idea of what happened. My voice was strained (it seems to me) for the same reason my face looks tight--not due to anger or even frustration, rather because of the cold. After moving a little time cross-country skiing at -20 FI can be warm and happy, but standing still in the cold for a short time after sitting in a car (after having been in the cold earlier). The Dynam A-10 was the third plane I tried to fly that day. The previous two did not run properly--I do not recall clearly what the issue was with the first plane, but motor for the second would spin up as I advanced the throttle and then cut out when the throttle went above about 2/3 of the range, so the second plane never even left my hand.

Small Plane Crash in Rockaway NJ Accident occurred Friday, July 12, 1996 Aircraft: Cessna 177RG, Injuries: 1 Minor, 1 Uninjured. The airplane was en route about 700 feet above the ground when the engine lost power. The pilot turned toward a shopping mall parking lot, and during the descent the airplane struck a power line. The airplane impacted the ground in a nose-low attitude and the nose landing gear collapsed. Examination of the airplane revealed that the fuel tanks were empty with corresponding indication of the fuel gages. There was no evidence of fuel siphoning or leakage on the airplane. The pilot reported that he did not check the fuel quantity before the flight, but instead did an estimation of the amount. The pilot's medical certificate had expired and his flight review was past due. A police toxicologist indicated that the pilot had a blood alcohol level of 0.060%. The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident as follows: The pilot's impairment of judgment and performance due to alcohol which led to his inadequate preflight of the aircraft and his inadequate inflight decision which resulted in fuel exhaustion and loss of engine power. Accidents in Abstract Painting, by Richard Jackson 22 Jan 2011, at the Rose Bowl parking lot. Quoting from pacificstandardtimefestival.org "In this outdoor spectacle, Richard Jackson will fly and crash a remote-controlled, ultra-lightweight, battery powered, model military jet plane with a 15-foot wing span, and filled with paint, into a 20-foot canvas wall that reads 'accidents in abstract painting.' On January 22, 2012, at 4:00 pm Jackson's plane will take off and circle the field directly south of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena for approximately 30 minutes. The climax will occur when the plane is aimed toward and flown into the canvas wall; the plane, made of balsa wood, will splinter on impact. Its contents—brightly colored paint—will splash onto, and then drip slowly down the canvas, making an 'accidental' painting. Following Jackson's spectacle, video footage and photographic documentation will be shown with the wall and the plane debris, along with other work, at the Armory Center for the Arts in an exhibition entitled Richard Jackson: Accidents in Abstract Painting, the Armory, on display from February through May 2012."

Throughout history, the most harrowing stories of human survival--like that of the Donner Party in the 1840s--have involved people whose only means of staying alive was to cannibalize the deceased around them. On Friday the 13th of October, 1972, just such a story began when a charter plane carrying 45 rugby team members crashed in the remote Andes Mountains. For 72 days, the world thought they were dead. But what 16 survivors endured was far worse than death, driven to what would become headline-making acts of cannibalism in their struggle for life.

Plane that crashed in a Parañaque City subdivision (Philippines) December 10, 2011, killing 14 people including children. The crash is being blamed on pilot error. I think NOT. Much of the dimensional alien craft in this video can be seen without aid. When contrast IS applied, it is only to provide a better view... a more 'tuned in' view. Change the contrast. Change the tone. Change the frequency. This allows the human eye to see the dimension it normally can not see. The sky is full of enormous alien craft. To help us SEE even more, I apply the 'edge detection' setting. SEE the aliens on their craft !!!!!
